About Mr. Richardson

Mr. Richardson has been teaching music in Canada and internationally since 2001. He attained his Bachelor of Education and Honours Specialist after completing his Honours Bachelor of Music and his Law degree.  His experience as a trumpet player includes working with orchestras, wind ensembles, brass bands, marching bands, brass quintets, and many community ensembles.  Mr. Richardson performed as a trumpet player and Sergeant with the Governor General's Foot Guards Band of the Canadian Forces for 15 years.  Having played for many foreign dignitaries, heads of state, and monarchs, the highlight of his musical career to date was to perform for Queen Elizabeth II and for Prince William and Kate Middleton during their visits to Canada.  

As a music educator, Mr. Richardson’s commitment to students' musical growth and development has led to several award winning performances at festivals and competitions both locally and internationally.  His leadership in international education has helped build and implement music programs and festivals around the world.  His strong understanding of assessment strategies and commitment to student success is evident in the classroom.  Students are continuously provided with meaningful feedback to improve and become life-long learners.

 

Mr. Richardson uses technology in the classroom to help facilitate learning, provide formative feedback, develop skills and improve performance.  He encourages students to use their devices where appropriate and provides links to websites and applications to maximize their effectiveness.
